How to Check Your Middle School Student’s Grades in Focus

Logging Into Your Student’s Account

  1. Log into Clever using your student’s school credentials.
  2. Select Log in with Active Directory.
  3. Enter your student’s 06 number followed by @my.browardschools.com.
  4. Enter your student’s password.
  5. Once inside Clever, click the Focus icon (the owl with the magnifying glass).

Viewing Current Grades

  • Current grade
  • Individual assignments
  • Assignment categories
  • Due dates
  • Missing work
  • Teacher updates

Understand What Impacts the Grade Most

  • Assessments
  • Homework
  • Quizzes
  • Labs

Use Sorting to Find Important Information

  • Assignment name
  • Category
  • Assigned date
  • Due date
  • Last updated
  • Grade
  • Find a specific assignment.
  • See what was assigned while your student was absent.
  • Identify missing work quickly.
  • Review recently updated grades.

Watch for These Academic Red Flags

Missing Assignments

  • NG (No Grade) — the assignment has not been submitted and has not been graded.
  • Z — the assignment is currently counting as a zero.

Grades Below Expectations

  • Are you understanding the material?
  • Is there anything you’re struggling with?
  • How can I help?

No Recent Grade Updates

Check Attendance Regularly

  • Daily attendance
  • Individual class absences
  • Tardies
  • Excused and unexcused absences

Make Checking Grades a Routine
