Firewall Centers is a non-profit organization that provides evidence-based after-school tutoring and mentoring for students in elementary, middle, and high school—free of charge to families. Our mission is to support students academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, nurturing environment.
Firewall Centers currently operates in multiple schools across Broward County, Florida. We are continuously expanding our reach to serve more students.

Our programs are designed for students who attend one of our partnering schools or live in the school zone or who currently attend a school funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward. Priority is often given to students in need of academic support or mentorship. Please check with your school or contact us to see if your child qualifies.

Students participate after school on-site at their school. Each session includes time for homework assistance, literacy and math intervention, mentorship, enrichment activities, and life skills lessons.
Transportation varies by site and school. At most locations, parents are responsible for picking up their child unless otherwise arranged. Contact your site coordinator for transportation details.
Firewall Centers provides snacks and/or supper based on each site’s needs.
Yes! Students regularly participate in educational field trips, service-learning projects, and special showcases that promote academic engagement and community connection. Parent consent is required for participation.
Yes, students use educational platforms and digital tools as part of their tutoring and enrichment activities. We help close the technology gap by providing access to devices during program hours.
Our students are supported by trained Success Coaches, Site Supervisors and mentors who are passionate about helping youth succeed. Many are AmeriCorps members or education professionals.
Firewall services are provided at no cost to families, thanks to public and private funding, grants, and generous donors.
Parents can submit the student application online on our website. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis or based on academic needs.
Yes, if a site has reached capacity, students will be placed on a waitlist. Families will be contacted as spots become available.
Yes. Safety is a top priority. All staff undergo level 2 background checks and receive training in child and youth development, safety protocols, and behavior management.
Regular attendance is important for academic and mentoring success. Parents are expected to ensure their child attends consistently and communicates with staff if absences are expected.
Parents receive updates through text messages, emails, phone calls, newsletters, and events. We also conduct family engagement activities throughout the year.
Yes! We encourage parents to get involved through volunteering at events or sharing their skills and knowledge. Contact your site coordinator for more information.
We track students’ academic progress, school attendance, and social and behavioral growth. Students in our programs often show measurable gains in reading, math, and overall school engagement.
