Swimming is more than just a fun summer activity — it’s a life skill that every child should learn. Teaching kids how to swim not only opens the door to a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water, but it also plays a critical role in safety and confidence.

According to the CDC, drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children. By enrolling kids in swimming lessons early, parents significantly reduce that risk. Learning to swim helps children develop strength, coordination, and respect for water. It also equips them with the skills to stay calm and make smart decisions in emergencies.
Every week our elementary campers get to enjoy free, fun, and lifesaving swim lessons through Swim Central , thanks to support from the Children’s Services Council of Broward County. With certified water-safety instructors, our students learn essential swimming skills while building confidence, friendships, and lifelong safety habits—all at no cost to families.
