Students celebrated Black History Month through engaging activities that highlighted the achievements and contributions of influential leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman. Through educational presentations, projects, and classroom discussions, students explored important themes of leadership, equality, and perseverance.
A highlight of the month was the student-led Living Wax Museum, where students brought history to life by portraying notable figures and sharing their stories with visitors. This interactive experience strengthened research and public speaking skills while encouraging creativity and deeper understanding.
Students also participated in Black History Shows across sites, featuring dances, art, music, plays, and more. Elementary students further explored Black history through hands-on projects such as an Martin Luther King Jr. paper-bag puppet show and watercolor art activities.
These experiences provided students with meaningful opportunities to reflect, learn, and celebrate the lasting impact of Black leaders—reminding us that their stories and contributions continue to shape our world today.
